About the City Parent Carer Forum

Who we are and what we do

The City Parent Carer Forum (CPCF) is a group of parents and carers of children and young people (0 to 25 years old) with special educational needs and disabilities. We are a pan-disability organisation and believe working together can achieve the best outcomes for children, young people and their families.

There are over 150 Parent/Carer forums nationwide that receive a small DfE grant and as one of those forums, our aim in the City is to ensure that services are designed and developed best to meet the needs of City of London SEND families. We do this by using your experiences and expertise to partner with the Local Authority and Health to shape the services you want and need for your families. We are a supportive SEND group of like-minded parents and carers who offer a platform for you to have your say and be listened to.

Although we don’t always agree, we strive to build positive relationships with all our key partners so that we can use your views and experiences to be part of the solution towards better service provision in the City of London.

We have regular social events (just for a chat and a break) and informative. These include workshops, speakers, surveys and occasionally, conferences on important SEND topics. The forum also works with neighbouring forums to ensure we cover ‘cross borough’ issues, and where we can’t immediately help with your concerns, we can signpost to the right people so that families get the best responses from local services.

Whilst we are an independent community group, our work is done in collaboration with the Local Authority, National Health Partners within the City. We strive to build relationships with other Parent Carer Forums and welcome residents from surrounding boroughs to our events and activities.

Co-production is at the heart of our work

We co-produce activities and influence policy processes by working with our SEND community and the Local Authority.
